Wallace's Whiskey Room & Kitchen
About This Spot
Wallace's Whiskey Room & Kitchen sits quietly tucked away on N Highland Avenue, offering a welcome retreat from the city’s usual bustle. As you step inside, the mood carries a gentle calm, punctuated by the soft clink of glasses and the easy rhythm of familiar conversations. It’s the kind of place where the pace feels unhurried, inviting you to settle in and savor the moment without distraction.
The space reflects a straightforward, no-frills charm—functional yet comfortable—with a quiet warmth that seems to come from the people as much as the atmosphere. It doesn’t shout for attention through decor; instead, it earns it through genuine hospitality and an attentive, steady energy behind the bar. Staff here move thoughtfully between tables and the counter, cultivating a feeling of relaxed attentiveness that makes you feel quietly at ease.
Food and drink live at the heart of Wallace’s experience, combining familiar, satisfying flavors with a careful hand. Whether it’s the crispy fries that accompany a carefully crafted Manhattan or the rich comfort of a classic Reuben sandwich, each plate feels like a small moment of care. The kitchen offers subtle nods to conventional favorites reimagined with presence and purpose — a spot where warming pastas or crisp salads fit effortlessly alongside expertly mixed cocktails, making every visit feel like a reliable haven for a good meal paired with thoughtfully made drinks.
The bartenders, in particular, quietly hold the room’s spirit, offering confidence and a welcoming smile with every poured drink. The vibe is low-key, but it leaves a lasting impression, especially if you’re one to savor a well-stirred vodka martini or enjoy a conversation over a glass of local whiskey.
Wallace’s Whiskey Room & Kitchen isn’t about spectacle; it’s about the understated pleasure of good company, honest food, and drinks poured with care. It feels like a familiar chapter in a neighborhood story still unfolding — a place you want to return to, not just for the menu, but for the moments spent between bites and sips.

Ate breakfast here. Great food, great staff. The space is a bit barren (like the hotel). But, didn't go there for the decor. Would definitely eat there again.

We thought it was closed... the bartender was waiting tables too but the tables are very private and you cant see them from out in the hallway of the hotel. Fries were good, they were out of cod.

Food is fantastic here. Was very impressed with the Mac and cheese, the Reuben, and the appetizers. Food price is a good value for what you get.
